Tour option 1: Picasso Museum & Gothic Quarter

The Picasso museum is a key reference for understanding the formative years of Pablo Picasso. The genius of the young artist is revealed through the 4,251 works that make up the permanent collection. Furthermore, the Picasso museum, opened in 1963, also reveals his deep relationship with Barcelona: an intimate, solid relationship that was shaped in his adolescence and youth, and continued until his death. After the visit we will take a walk in the Gothic Quarter, discovering some curiosities of the local life and its rich history.

Tour option 1: Panoramic View Tour

This tour offers a general view of the city, including the places of main interest that one should not miss in Barcelona: Modernist buildings in Passeig de Gràcia, such as Gaudí’s Casa Milà and Casa Batlló; the most known Gaudí work, La Sagrada Familia (outside visit); the Gothic Quarter with the Cathedral and Picasso Museum; a view of La Rambla from Plaza Cataluña, and, of course, a splendid panoramic view over the whole city from Montjuïc hill.

Tour option 2: Gothic Quarter Tour

The beautiful neighbourhood known as the Gothic Quarter is so called because it used to be the Roman village and thus has some remnants of its glorious past. These days because of the constant modernization it is easy to spot an ancient building right next to one built in the 90s. It is this mix of old and new that brings people from all over the world to stay in the Gothic Quarter.

Tour option 2: Sagrada Familia & Gaudi

In 1882, the original Sagrada Família Gothic church project, designed by Francesc de Paula Villar, was taken over by the young Antoni Gaudí, who transformed it into the most fascinating church of all time. An architectural bible called the Sagrada Família which has become a Barcelona icon. The building, which is still under construction, has lent its name to the area and made its world famous. After all, the Sagrada Família is a vibrant neighbourhood with its own unique personality. Let yourself be guided through the history of Gaudí and its most spectacular construction, La Sagrada Familia.

Tour option 1: Tour Codorniu + Montserrat

In the afternoon we will go on, after a bus ride, to the beautiful Codorniu winery that was commissioned by Manuel Raventós, who inherited the Can Codorníu estate in 1885. He employed one of the leading architects of the time, Josep Puig i Cadalfach (who is today considered one of the “modernist” geniuses, along with Gaudi) to design the new winery in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. Building took from 1985 to 1915, and the result was a stunning, unique structure. We will finish the visit with a wine tasting.

After an hour trip we will start the day with a visit to the Montserrat Monastery, for many visitors the highlight of their visit. Montserrat is a spectacularly beautiful Benedictine monk mountain retreat about one hour North West from Barcelona. Not only is Montserrat Monastery of significant religious importance but the natural beauty surrounding the monastery is simply breath taking. After the visit we will have lunch at a traditional restaurant in a beautiful location.

Tour option 2: Girona & Salvador Dalí Figueres Museum

Discover the medieval city of Girona and town of Figueres, the birthplace of Spanish surrealist Salvador Dalí, on this partly guided day trip from Barcelona.
After roughly 1.5 hours, arrive in the city and stroll around the Old Town with your guide. Delve into the old-world streets and Jewish Quarter, home to one of Catalonia’s most significant Jewish communities in the Middle Ages.

See the baroque Cathedral exterior and admire the views of Girona’s pastel-coloured houses perched along the Onyar’s banks. Then, after free time for lunch (own expense), continue by coach to Figueres, the birthplace of 20th-century Spanish artist, Salvador Dalí.

On route, hear Dalí´s extraordinary life story and learn how the moustachioed genius remodelled Figueres’ Dalí Theatre-Museum from the town’s original Municipal Theatre. Admire the museum’s striking Dalí-esque façade and then head inside to view its collections of Dalí’s art, before seeing some of his stylized jewels at the neighbouring Dalí Jewels exhibition.

Gala Dinner at Drassanes Wednesday 25th July 2018

During the Gala Dinner a short concert of post-avantgarde music will take place, in which baroque music will be combined with Catalan and Spanish music, as well as with jazz and free improvisation. The performers are the world leaders of the genre: Maya Homburger (baroque violin), Agustí Fernández (piano), and Barry Guy (double bass).
